Rocky Mountain Foundation for Cancer Care hosts 2nd annual Ta-Ta Trot 5k walk/run fundraising event and free health screenings open to the public

September 26, 2011 (CASPER, WY) – The Rocky Mountain Foundation for Cancer Care will host its second annual Ta-Ta Trot Breast Cancer Awareness 5K fun Walk/Run fundraiser at the Wyoming Women's Expo on October 1, 2011. Proceeds from this event will benefit the Rocky Mountain Foundation for Cancer Care, a charitable organization providing donors and center employees a means to support local efforts in community education, special events and financial assistance to cancer patients and their families.

Held in conjunction with the Wyoming Women's Expo, the Ta-Ta Trot will start at the Casper Events Center at 8 a.m., rain or shine, with registration opening at 7 a.m. Free health screenings for breast, skin and oral/head & neck cancers will take place from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. The registration cost for the Ta-Ta Trot 5k Walk/Run is $20 per person in advance and $25 per person the day of the event.

During the Ta-Ta Trot 5k walk/run, Rocky Mountain Oncology will also be working with the GWC-MSEA course and Cost Plus to host an Equine Division of the event. Anyone interested in attending is encouraged to dress up their horse for a fun ride on the course – to negotiate jumps, trail ride past obstacles or just enjoy the ride! Equine Division participants pay the same registration cost as Ta-Ta Trot 5k walk/run participants, plus an additional required $10 fee for insurance purposes. Registration for this portion of the day's events also opens at 7 a.m., with the ride beginning at 8 a.m. All participants will receive, while supplies last, a t-shirt, goodie bag and an admission ticket to the Wyoming Women's Expo on Saturday.

"Last year we had great success, and a lot of fun, hosting the Ta-Ta Trot event. This year we are excited to add the Equine Division into the mix. It's all to help cancer patients and to raise awareness in our community," says Rocky Mountain Oncology Medical Director Robert Tobin, M.D. "Our hope is that this event continues to be an annual occurrence that honors our patients and makes a difference in the lives of our neighbors who are dealing with cancer."

Registration can also be completed in person at the Rocky Mountain Oncology booth at the Wyoming Women's Expo on September 30th and October 1st, or at the cancer center's Casper location at 6501 E. 2nd Street in Casper, Monday through Friday.
